Plays can be created from both the Playbooks Manager App and the Playbooks extension. Some users that have the ability to “Manage Plays” may not have the option to access the Playbooks Manager App.

Announcing your New Play

After you create a beautiful, new Play, how do you make sure it gets used? You have to communicate with the teams that will be using it. And once usually isn’t enough. Incorporate two or more of the options below in your communication plan. Be sure to include things like the pain point the Play solves, when it goes LIVE, what the expectation for use is, how the Play works, and what process changes will be made due to the Play. Bonus points if you communicate with a video.

  • Email from Playbooks Admin/Enablement/Ops: “We created a Play that will help you drive more attendance to a webinar we are hosting later this month. Begin using it on Monday with all your accounts not within 3 months of renewal.”
  • Email from Executive Sponsor: “As VP of Sales, I want to address the concerns escalated to me regarding the unified messaging of our new product line. This Play helps to align all of us.”
  • Daily/Weekly Huddles: “Congratulations to our top 3 Play adopters. Here is some of the response we’ve seen from the Play.”

Modifying an Existing Play

Modifying an existing Play is simple. Navigate to the Play and click on the Play Name or the vertical ellipsis to the right of a Play Name. Then select edit.

You can add or remove Tags and teams, change the description, and even the Name of the Play. However, once records have been enrolled into a Play, you will no longer be able to add, remove, or rearrange Play steps and/or wait time.

It is a delicate balance between the ability to change Plays at will and preserve the integrity of reporting on a Play’s success. That is why editing a Play is limited once records are enrolled in the Play. You won’t be able to rearrange or remove steps, but you can modify the Cue Cards and email templates. This means you can correct typos and change the talk track as needed but continue to test the perfect amount of time between steps.
